The simple answer is NO. Everyone has an opinion on this area and some will be real quick to tell you that by giving up your job you are giving up your dreams. I was still a few years away from my planned retirement, but the situation required me to retire early. Did I give up my dreams? No, I made them happen.
I learned how to efficiently run a household. I used many of the same skills I had used in my job. Organization was the main ingredient. I had been saying for year that I was going to write a book. I now have four published books. I also have a weekly newspaper opinion column I write. I also have more time with my family.
So what did I give up? A large paying job is the answer. What did I gain? My dreams and much, much, more.
The choice is yours. You are not “stuck” if you are a stay-at-home parent. There comes a day when your children start school at that point everyone’s life changes. You will have a lot more time for yourself, and more time to get things done. You now have the time to keep the house and take on a separate job.
I know people who became a stay-at-home parent to reach their dream. Some put them on temporary hold until their children grew, but during the time the made preparations for the day they could do what they wanted to do.
The stay-at-home parent job is a long and tiring job, but somehow, people find a way to write, play in bands, paint, and many other endeavors. The only limits are those you impose upon yourself.
