Hamburgers
The basic hamburger is made from ground beef, ground turkey or a mixture of these two meats. To make a hamburger, use a pound of ground beef and shape the meat into four patties. If you use an electric grill the burgers will cook on the top and bottom and the cooking time is
approximately five minutes. If you are using a skillet, turn on the stove to medium high and cook each side for approximately five minutes. You can check the burgers by pressing down on them with a slotted turner. If red juices run out, they are rare. When the juice is clear they are well done. If you use a skillet, use a splatter guard to keep the grease from popping all over the stove top.
When the burgers are finished, and the meat is still in the pan, you can place a slice of cheese on top of the burger and let it get warm. Remove the burger from the pan before the cheese has melted. Place the burger on the bottom portion of the bun and place the top portion of the bun under the bun that holds the meat. You are now ready to serve the burgers. To spice up your burger, add the condiments you like. Suggestions are: mustard, pickles (sweet or dill), lettuce, and tomatoes. Some people like to add ketchup or mayonnaise.
