Roasts
You can get a roast in beef or pork. They look very similar but taste different. Pick the one that you like the best. You can cook the roast in a slow cooker giving you time to do other things.
3-4 lb chuck beef roast
1 package or pouch of dry onion soup mix
3 cups of water
3 or 4 medium size potatoes
2 cups of carrots
1 small onion
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of pepper
Cut the potatoes, carrots and onions into two inch pieces and place in the slow cooker. Using a sharp knife pierce the roast every two to three inches and put a mixture of your favorite seasonings into the holes. The holes need only be a couple inches deep. I use finely chopped onions and garlic coated with salt and pepper. Put the roast on top of these ingredients. Mix the dry soup mix in the three cups of water and pour over the top of the roast. Add the additional salt and pepper to your taste. Cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or high for 5 to 6 hours.
